Our History

The HAWA Watoto orphanage was initiated by HAWA organization  in February 2012  under the leadership of
Ferdinand Onwong'a (The Executive Director) and his team of 17 board members. 





 
It is a non-religious Christian mission. Ferdinand had been an I.T Consultant & Training coordinator for Bridge for Rural Urban for Development (NGO), in Nairobi, previous to this, having come from the UNHABITAT  project by Onestop Youth Centre with the Nairobi city Council.
At the time of registration there are about 50 children on the mission including some staff kids. All together there are about 100 people on the mission. Some of the staff work for a minimal salary and several work as volunteers. Financial support for the mission has come from loving family, friends, and church groups across the globe.
